Paying for Medical Weight Loss, HSA, FSA, Cherry, Klarna, Affirm

We're a cash-pay practice. You don't need insurance to start. Programs run $166 to $233 a month, and financing can lower the up-front amount: Klarna splits the $499 program into 4 interest-free payments of $124.75, and qualifying patients may receive a 0% APR plan through Cherry (as an illustration only, about $42 a month over 12 months on the $499 program). Approval and terms are set by the financing provider. Here's every way to pay, what's eligible, and what you'd pay per month with each option.

What each program costs at each tier

Reading guide: the totals are the cash price; the per-month columns show what you'd pay with Klarna's 4-installment plan or Affirm's 6-month plan (rate varies by credit).

HSA / FSA eligibility, in plain language

HSA and FSA funds are eligible for "qualified medical expenses" under IRS guidelines. Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide prescribed by a licensed physician for weight loss with documented medical necessity (BMI 30+, or 27+ with a comorbidity) qualify. The $119 physician visit qualifies. We provide itemized statements with diagnosis and procedure codes if your administrator requires them for substantiation.

What might not qualify: gym memberships (without a Letter of Medical Necessity), most fitness equipment, supplements without a prescription. Your HSA administrator confirms specifics.

Why this matters financially. If you have an HSA with a balance, every dollar paid through HSA is paid with pre-tax money, effectively a 22-37% discount depending on your tax bracket. For the $499 90-day program, that's $110-$185 in tax savings most patients leave on the table.

Cherry, healthcare financing you can spread out

Cherry is a pay-over-time option built specifically for healthcare and wellness practices, so it fits medical weight loss well. You pre-qualify online in seconds, and pre-qualifying does not affect your credit score. If approved, you pick a monthly plan and pay in installments while we receive the payment upfront.

Plan length and interest rate depend on your approval: qualifying patients may get a 0% APR plan, and other plans carry an interest rate set by Cherry. As an illustration only, a $499 program spread over 12 months on a 0% qualifying plan is about $42 a month; your actual terms are set by Cherry at approval. Cherry is a third-party provider, and New Hope Weight Loss is not affiliated with it.

Klarna, 4 interest-free installments

Klarna is a buy-now-pay-later option that lets you split any purchase into 4 equal interest-free installments. The first installment is paid at checkout; the remaining three are charged every two weeks. No interest if paid on schedule. Late fees apply if you miss a payment. The signup is a soft credit check that doesn't affect your score.

For our 90-day Essential Reset at $499: 4 × $124.75 over 6 weeks. For tirzepatide at $699: 4 × $174.75. Klarna handles the financing; we receive the payment in full upfront.

Affirm, 3, 6, or 12-month plans

Affirm offers longer-term financing with monthly payments. Interest rate depends on credit profile and term length, promotional 0% APR is sometimes available; standard rates run from 10% to 30% APR. You pre-qualify online to see your rate before committing.

Common plans for our programs:

Why we don't bill insurance

Insurance denials for branded GLP-1 medication coverage (Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound) are common. Prior authorization, when granted, takes 30 to 90 days. Many patients spend three months in back-and-forth before learning their plan rejects the medication. Branded GLP-1 medications carry list prices of about $968-$1,349/month before manufacturer savings or self-pay programs.

Compounded therapy at our clinic is $166-$233/month. For most uninsured patients, the math favors cash-pay even before factoring in the time and stress of insurance navigation. For patients whose insurance does cover branded GLP-1 with reasonable copay, branded is the better path, we'll tell you that during the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Do you accept HSA or FSA?

Yes. HSA and FSA cards are accepted directly at checkout for both the $119 initial visit and the medication portion of the 90-day programs. Save your receipts; we provide itemized statements on request.

Can I use Klarna or Affirm for the 90-day program?

Yes. Both Klarna and Affirm are accepted for the $499 (semaglutide) and $699 (tirzepatide) 90-day programs and the $199 Skeptic's Trial. Klarna offers 4 interest-free installments; Affirm offers 3, 6, or 12-month plans with rates depending on credit profile. The application is a soft credit check that does not affect your credit score.

Do you offer Cherry financing?

Yes. Cherry is a financing option built for healthcare and wellness practices, accepted for the $199 Skeptic's Trial and the $499 and $699 90-day programs. You pre-qualify in seconds with no impact to your credit score, then pay over time in monthly installments. Qualifying patients may receive a 0% APR plan; other plans carry an interest rate based on your credit. Terms and approval are set by Cherry, a third-party provider not affiliated with New Hope Weight Loss.

Why don't you bill insurance directly?

Insurance denials for branded GLP-1 medication coverage are common, and prior authorization typically takes 30 to 90 days. We chose cash-pay so patients can start treatment within days, not months, and avoid the $200-$2,000 out-of-pocket gap that often arises after partial insurance approval. Our cash prices ($166-$233 per month for medication) are usually lower than what most patients pay through insurance with prior auth and copays.

What's the total monthly cost with financing?

For the 90-day Essential Reset ($499 total) using Klarna's 4-installment option, the cost is $124.75 per installment, 4 interest-free installments paid every two weeks over six weeks. For Affirm's 6-month plan with average APR, the monthly cost is approximately $86. Compare with branded Wegovy at a list price of about $1,349/month before manufacturer savings or self-pay programs, financing or not, the math typically favors compounded therapy for uninsured patients.

Are gym expenses HSA-eligible alongside this?

Generally no, gym memberships are not HSA-eligible without a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). We don't provide LMNs for fitness expenses; we provide them for the medication and physician services where appropriate.

Can I split payment across HSA and Klarna?

Yes. Some patients use HSA to cover the $119 initial visit and Klarna for the medication, or split the medication cost across HSA and another method. We accept multiple payment methods on a single transaction. Just let us know at checkout how you want to split it.
